Join us for twice weekly hikes that alternate among four fairly standard routes. Typically, we take the same hike twice weekly, three of which are along the mountains-to-sea trail, running alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville. This group is for individuals who are looking for activities in the Wilkesboro area. Activities can consist of fishing, kayaking or canoeing or boating on W.Kerr Scott Dam. Our area lake has many outlets for recreation. We also have locations for camping. Camping grounds can host campers and tents. Some reservations may be required. Naturalists, adventurers and health conscious individuals can enjoy nature and make new friends along the way.
Let's get out and enjoy the many public parks, greenways and trails in Knoxville, Tennessee and the surrounding counties. Each Monday we walk a greenway or trail in order to discover their birds, forests, wildflowers, geology and learn about their historical and cultural features. Our plan is to develop an in-depth guide. Please join us in discovering and documenting the features of our extraordinary public spaces.
Although our mainstay is hiking we've also been biking, camping, kayaking, walking and eating with cameras. Just about anything outdoorsy with camera included. The trails we choose range from easy to moderately strenuous and almost all include rocks, roots, and elevation changes. On hikes we do the buddy system which allows more opportunities to take pictures as photographers are of a very curious nature and tend to wander off. Cameras are not required but highly recommended.
